Has it got a year or engine or what trans or mileage?
They have a lot of holes in them.
Like what kind of a hole or is any fluid running out of it?
Where is the hole? How big is it?
WHAT IS IT DOING OR NOT DOING?
And like my mama told me do not go around sticking you finger in strange holes to check them out

He might be talking about the wephole in the bellhousing on the 4L60E tranny..... If this is the case, yes, it is supposed to be there.

Ok now we are going places or getting some where on it.:grinyes:
But you are going to have to crawl under there and have a look at it.
The 400 transmission does not have any holes in it but the splash cover on the converter that does have.
So you will need to remove the splash cover and have a look in there.
With cover off you will be able to see the front seal.
If it is a leak when the engine is running it will be a pressure leak like front seal or trans cooler line.
If it leaks sitting it could be a pan gasket or dip stick tube or front pump gasket.
Clean off the old oil and remove that splash cover and have a look and you will see what is leaking.
Post back what you see or find out.

Those Turbo 400s could leak at the vac modulator, the trans lines to the radiator, dip stick tube o-ring, or the pan gasket. That 47000 is most probably 247000 on an 85 so lots of use - speedo had no hundred thousand place - had one.

You don't go by smell.

It could be brake fluid, or any type of fluid really.
