seat belt latch

:screwy: my venture is a 2002 with 55k miles. i'm having a problem with one of the rear seat belt latches. nothing is stuck in it since i looked with a flashlight. it seems to be broken since it takes a lot of effort to buckle. sometimes it won't buckle at all. other times if i push the red button it will buckle. has anyone changed the latch before? i did see that it is integrated into the seat. i haven't figured out how to remove the black cover off the bottom side of the seat for a better look. any ideas? thanks.

Take it to the dealer and tell them to fix it....seat belts are a safety item and I believe they will fix it for free. I know I had a Honda with over 100K on it that broke a belt latch, and they fixed it free. At the time, the dealer told me that the car companies would rather warrant seat belts forever than get sued when one fails....worth asking them....with only 55K miles and assuming you did not damage it somehow (dog chewed it up, a child put a penny in it, etc), then they would be stupid not to fix it.....just a thought...

That's great.....most dealers realize they never win if they refuse to fix safety equipment like belts.....glad to hear some dealers still do the right thing....Glen
