so i just put new drum brake pads in the rear of my '92, and now the parking brake light won't go out, what adjustments should I make? also ever since I bought the car while i'm sitting at a traffic light, gradually the brake pedal will go down to the floor unless I pump it back up. is this a sign of air in the system or someting else? (i'm not noticing any leaks)

Sounds like air in the brake lines or not enough fluid.

The thing that senses you have pulled up the parking break might be sticking, so check that.:icon16:

The shoes and parking brake are adjusted by the star wheel adjuster at the bottom of the assembly between the 2 shoes. You should have taken it all apart and put some anti-sieze on the threads after cleaning them out

Anyway all you need to do is adjust the shoes outward to the point where they just about drag on the drum surface and then your done.

On you weak pedal, did you replace all the hardware (springs and rods) in the drum assemblies?

My recommendations on this subject is the rear shoes last a pretty long time. It's best to replace all the hardware and cheap insurance to replace the wheel cylinders while you're at it.

If everything is new, adjusted and bled properly the last remaining possibility is the backing plates on these warp. but that's a last case scinerio and usually the pistons of the wheel cylinders grenade out of the retaining cups.
