I wanna put a new cam in my 87' 150 i really don't feel like pulling th motor just to put in a new cam but there is a vertical bar in the way. it is on the front of the body. is it ok to cut this bar off then weld it back on after the installation?

No do not cut the swaybar. They are made for a specific amount of flex and if you heat them it will take that out. Pull the motor, it only takes a couple hours and will save you more time than trying to change out the cam in the truck.

Spend a little more time on it now....or spend more time AND money down the road. Simply choice for 95% of the people out there.

What motor, a 225, 318 or 360? this is an '87? so.... what's in the way that doesn't unbolt?

The SWAY BAR? You all are way off track! He said CAM not CRANK!:screwy:

Food4Me:
The vertical bar is the center support brace on the radiator support. Yes, you can cut it and then put it back. On some years, it actually unbolts from the top or bottom, but have a look for yourself.
If you're not going to rebuild it, at least use new lifters, and check your pushrods for being straight (roll them all across a flat table...) and rocker arms for wear (looseness on the shaft, worn pushrod dimple, clogged lube hole.)

Good luck.
