So me and my gf are going to Cali for two weeks. We're leaving the first week in May. I have a bunch of relatives out there which makes it better. We're taking my new car (the hardtop GST) out there. I know it's faster to fly, but it's always been my dream to drive my own car with my gf across country. The car has 120k miles on it right now and i know nothing of the previous maintenence. So my main concern is breaking down in the desert somewhere. So it's time for a major tune-up (even though the motor runs strong as all hell). Here's what i've come up with so far, if any of you have something to add, please do.
New -
Battery
Plugs
Wires
Fuel filter
Timing belt
Balance shaft belt
Alternator belt
PS belt
A/C belt
Brakes pads
Rotors
Bleed brakes and clutch
Transer tires from Spyder on to the hardtop
New gear lube
Radiator flush
New thermostat
Upper and lower radiator hoses
Oil change
Do a complete inspection of EVERYTHING on the vehicle before it rolls out.
Can you guys think of anything of major importance that i need to replace?

Make sure you do those changes a couple weeks before you go just so you can have a "break-in" period before you begin the trek. You don't want the timing belt to stretch and then skip half-way across the country because you did the change the night before you left. Just my $.02

I wouldnt do all of that for sure. I would:
DO:
plugs
wires
air filter
fuel filter
oil/filter change
tranny fluid
radiator fluid
all the belts
bleed clutch and brakes
thermostat
CHECK:
brake pads and rotors
radiator hoses
battery
alternator
timing and balance components (tensioners etc)
look for leaks

well i know i need new brakes anyway, they're squeeling...if i don't come up with enough money soon though, i'm thinking about flying out. it's cheaper, but i won't get the scenery if i fly...
i'll be in northridge, ca which is like 20min from burbank if i remember right. so if anyone wants to meet up out there near the beginning of may, let me know.
