97 Conti Steering noise...please help!

I've noticed a squealing/whining/grinding type of noise when I turn left. Doesn't happen when I turn right though.
Tie rod ends?
Bearings?
CV Boots?
Any ideas? I would appreciate the help. Plus, if you're certain what it could be, where is a good place to have it fixed? I live in Michigan. I haven't had this car long, and I love it thus far. Please help!

Hi, Your steering noise sounds like a CV joint, Best place to get it fixed? If you don't have a good tech available, Do the dealer thing, It may cost but it's money well spent cause all they work on are your type of car...See Ya, ...Clay..

CV's usually throw a clickity, clackity sound when their dry and under stress. Tie rod ends don't whine, squeal, or grind.
How many miles on this car?
Squealing, grinding would definately be a descriptive term for worn brake pads rubbing on the brake rotor. Especially if the pads have one of those metal tangs that'r supposed to let you know when the usefull pad life is getting low. Those tangs are only put on one pad, so the other one could be grinding while that one is squealing.
Can't rule out wheel bearings, they'll make all sorts of noises when they go bad.
IMHO - You're going to have to get under there and check out everything.
You might have to replace the entire front suspension depending on what your inspection finds.
There's been 'noise' complaints attributed to bad motor/transmission mounts too.
Also, make sure of the proper fluid level in the transmission (transaxle).

The cars has over 140k miles.
I forgot to add in that the noise is only(as far as I can tell) when I am sitting still.
So again, I have this noise, squealing/whining/or grinding, when I turn left(but not right), when I am sitting still. It's not really a high pitched noise...it's really getting quite difficult to describe this.
I guess the only way to really be sure is to get the wheel off and look. Thanks again.
