98 blinker comes on when brakes are hit

i have a 98 malibu and when i hit the brakes the left blinker lights up on the dash. and when im have my left blinker on it blinks really fast. any one else had this problem?

check the rear tail light bulbs on that side, sounds like the filiment broke and droped onto the other filiment, seen that before
