installing an alarm

hey, my audio system was jacked a while back and before i replace it i wanna hook up my truck with an alarm, im wondering if i should try installing the alarm myself or if i should pay the $75 to have it installed professionally, have any of yall installed an alarm in your truck? do you know if its alot of work? and more or less how much time it would take me to install it? thanks for any input
