strang spots problem

i was washin my car today and noticed these spots on the hood mostly in the middle. they are small, about quarter inch wide. i have no idea where they came from. they arent chips i think. its almost like the clear coats messed up or something. but i've never noticed them there before, so any body know what they could be.

Delamination probably. Crappy gm paint from the late 80's early 90's had problems with that.

no, its on top of the paint. its almost like hard water spots like earlsfat said. i'll see if i can get some pics

Are the spots you're seeing sort of a cloudy area with a hint of a metallic haze?
As mentioned above, it could very well be early signs of delamination

looks like hard water deposits, my dad had the same problem on his roof of his camaro, they can be buffed out.
