Hi all,
Just finished my latest project (putting the S2000 on the back burner yet again). Its a Lotus 25 Coventry Climax driven by Jim Clark in '62 and '63.
Hope all like it. I just wish Tamiya made more of these classic GP cars.

Always a joy for me to see someone else posts
some Formula 1 models. :)
Another great job like you did with the Honda Del-R.
Too bad this are the only two 50/60 F1’s by Tamiya. :(
I will also do the Jim Clark version.

Gainsbourg:-
What are you working on at the moment? I've also nearly finished my Jordan 191. Not sure what to start next.. MP4/5B, Mp4/8 or Williams FW13.

 ..Both those kits are fantastic. The detail work is 10/10. I'd like to see some more of your work.
I can see myself having to get one of these at some stage.

I much prefer to build F1 cars now, so much so that I now have about 2 on the go at the same time.
You should give them a go P-man, I'm sure you'd enjoy building one, specially with your skills.

The only one i ever done was the Tamiya Nigel Mansell Indy car which was tha snap-loc 1/20.
Was pretty pleased with it but it kinda looks out of place with all my 1/24 kits i have.
I know the model shop i go to in town has a few F1 for sale at around half price due to them not selling so i may have another look at them

Del-R.
At the moment I’m finishing the MP4-8. I already start painting the parts of the Fw-11 and Honda F-1.
All the other are in the starting stage (cleaning and priming).
Nice work in the 191. It’s a beautiful car and it’s the only Jordan Tamiya have released.
For your next model I suggest you the Williams FW-13B. It’s a joy to build.

P-Man:-
I used to have that kit years ago, made a right mess of it! :(
My local model shop doesnt sell F1 kits as 'they dont sell'
Gainsb:-
Yep I've just been looking through my stack of kits to see which one I should tackle next, I think I will go for the FW13, its also a good practice run for the 1/12 FW14 I just my hands on. I'm just not sure how about those decals, thats one of my weak points, I usually mask and spray where I can to avoid large decals:D

I use a different technique.
I always go for the decals and only replace them by paint as a last resource. :D
The only ones I always try to replace by paint are the front and back wings.
About the FW-13B ones I assure you they are of great quality and apply quite easy.
And the final result it’s a beautiful model.

Nice work Del-R, hope I can do such a good work as yours.
Two questions, did you used the decals or painted it with
fluorescent red (TS-36)?
And why didn’t you use the Marlboro decals?

I used TS36 and had no problems with it, you know me with decals.. if I can avoid them I will! :)
I didnt think any of the later issued Tamiya McLarens had the Marlboro decals, not sure about the first issue ones, does yours have the marlboro decals or did you buy some?

Del-R - did you use the TS-36 over White? In real life, would you say the red is more of an orange red or a reddish red? Does it shine alot? Thanks!
Del-R
07-07-2002, 06:16 PM
Yes I first sprayed TS-26 (pure white) then I masked off and sprayed TS-36 (after the white had cured). I was a bit worried of it going all wrong but it came out quite nicely after a few finish coats for Tamiya clear.
Yes its a very bright orange red (just like it is on the can) and it shines just as much as any other TS-gloss.

I’m making the colour of the MP4/8 with the decals, only using TS-36 to correct some decal imperfection.
For sure it will not have such a good finish as if it was all painted with TS-36, but till now I like the result.
Ho, I understand. The late Tamiya releases of the MP4/4 don’t have the Marlboro decals. I have the first release of the kit, and at that time they gave us the opportunity to chose between Marlboro and non-Marlboro decals.
To bad they don’t continue with that policy. Not putting any tobacco publicity in the box but inside having the tobacco decals, giving the buyer the choice to decide.

Are you close to finishing it yet Gainsbourg?
Yes its a shame they dont supply the marlboro decals anymore, but I have now ordered some after market Marlboro decals for my MP4/5b, MP4/8 and Ferrari F1 2001 (when I get round to building them)

Nop, it will take some more time.
I will repaint the nose (I was not totally satisfied with it) and have to sand the wheels.
All fluorescent red decals hare applied, just need to do some corrections.
I hope to have some photos in two weeks.
I have a spare driver from an old car. I have not decided yet if I will build Senna for this car or save it for the MP4/4, the car he won is first championship.
