Hey everyone!
Was wondering if anyone has a URL for a good place to decrypt some Vin's?
All I am looking for is the paint codes for Pontiacs, old and new(at least back to 90).

Or even a book I could purchase, that would work too.

Thankx JC

The vin will not help with paint codes, you need the paint code number, or google GM paint codes.

thanks maxwedge. Thats what I thought but wasnt certain. I know some Pontiacs hav the #'s in the trunk on the spare wheel cover, along with a bunch of other usless part #'s.

Sheeesh! Dont know why they hav to be so damn difficult!

Actually, for 91-newer vehicles, the VIN will help for paint codes. I can look them up for you on a per car basis if you need it in our computer. All I need is the last 8 digits of the vehicle's VIN. IT is actually on the botttom of the SPID label too. If you get the code, any paint shop can tell you what color that code is for the particular make and model. Also, the Plasti-kote catalog has all the common paint codes in it. If you ask nicely, I'm sure someone that carries Plasti-kote paints could get you a copy.

Hey thankx Rich!
I already figured it out, it think.
I got a PPG and Duplicolour catalogs with the #'s, then I just run the Vin as you said , or I'll call and get the #'s or colour names.

It wasnt as big Of a mystery as I thought :)
My new GT was hard to find the paint, 204C(Mantra Green), ended up geting some from Napa, they had 1 Duplicolor touch-up pen, and I bought thier last pint of it also.
Never know when I might want to just, paint something!

You wouldnt know How to make paint high temp without buy HT paint?
Didnt know if an agent could be mixed with standard paint to become HT, if not dont worry about it.

Anyways, Thankx again Rich.
