Does anyone know the Chassis codes?

Does anyone know the chassis codes for the most poplular Honda/Acura cars? I'm a Toyota guy and I was just wondering.

I only know of two:

EG6 ~ Civic liftback (dunno year)
EK9 ~ Civic somthing or other...

What are the others?

EK is the 96-98 Civic
EG is the 99-00 civic??
EF is the 90-91 CRX
EE is the 88-89 CRX??

Ok so what about the nubers that go afterwards? Do they denote model trim?

1st gen Civic from 71-79? was known by its engine code of EB
2nd gen Civic 79?-85 or 84? was also know by the engine code of EN
3rd gen and Civic 1st gen CRX ??????????????????????????
4th gen Civic and 2nd Gen CRX 88-91 EF chassis code
5g Civic 3g CRX/DelSol 91-95 EG chassis
6g Civic 96-2000 EK chassis
7g Civic 2000- EJ chassis

The 2nd gen Integra was known as the DA chassis.
I dont know any other Honda chassis im affraid.

The number after the code is then used to distingwish the seperate models. Some numbers may be the same in differnt regions but be used on differnt models.

I'd love to see a complete list...

I know the 3rd Integra was DC2.
The 4th Integra/RSX is the DC5.
The 5th Prelude is BB[something]...

Well Iv seen the index book with all the chassis codes in it for every single Honda ever made and sold in Japan and the Asia pasfic region since the year dot to 2000.

All the differnt Civic models from the 1g to the 6g listed in size 8 type, one model to a line streched over about 6 pages. :eek:

Sorry to burst your info Moppie, but my 6th gen '00 Civic coupe is an EJ6, so 7th gens are NOT EJ's. Ek only applies to 6th gen hatches, and EG is 5th gen hatches. The 6th gen Si coupe is weirdly enough, code EM1. It's not an EJ like my coupe is, even though it's the same damn year and style. Hmm interesting.
I know iv seen the 7g here with an EJ chassis code.
And the coupes Iv seen from Japan all had an EG or EK code on them, even though they were all made in the states and exported to Japan. (im not sure where the RHD conversion took place, but I believe the cars are shipped partialy built to Japan were a RHD dash and steering is put in them).

So it figures that there are clearly differnces in the chassis codes not only between years and models, but also between regions.


and that list if pretty good. Possibly the best Iv seen out side of Honda. (but its not even close to being complete) *edit*I found an error in it. They list the EF6 as having a D15, when it is fact the JDM Si and uses the ZC engine, and the EF8 is the SiR CRX, and the EF9 is the SiR Civic*edit*

Yeah, I have noticed little errors here and there on some stuff on this site, but for the most part, things are pretty right on. :)

But yes, I do believe things are different from region to region, not so much between US, Canada, and Japan (most are universal between those 3) but when compared to Aust. and Europe regions, things get much different it seems...

I think Honda works on 4 world regions. (most of the Japanese manufactors seem to)
North America, which is Canada and the US, doohh
Europe, which is well, UK and the EU.
Asia Pasfic, includeing Ausie and NZ.
Japan. Thier local and home market.

Then with in each region there would be country spesfic deffrnces.
For example there was a B16a powered Coupe sold new in Aussie, but not in NZ, or Japan.

But that's only for Civics... what about the rest? :(

Ok, after reading another thread it appears that:

The fisrt letter represents the Model. e.g. Civic, Integra, etc etc
The 2nd letter represents defferent things, including the model year, and the region of manufactor. e.g. EF is a Civic made in Japan
The 2nd letter changes with differnt models and different years, and different regions.

The number after it then tells the exact model, dependant on the 2nd letter. So an EF6 and an ED6 are both Civics, but one is made in Japan and has a ZC engine, the other is made for the asia/south pasfic region and uses a SOHC engine.
