Front Wheel Bearing Adjustment

Have a '98 1/2 ton 2WD. This weekend doing a brake job with new rotors. My question is how much should I tighten the bearing? Over the years I have always just snugged up, but not quite sure if this is correct. Thanks.

Just slightly more than finger tight. I tighten it with my fingers, spin it once and tighten it again. Then use channellocks to get it to the first opening to insert the cotter pin.

Thats the way I was taught by dear old dad 35 years ago, never had one fall off.

Snug up nut while spinning the wheel in the same direction (pretty snug) then back off to first hole you can get the cotter pin in.
