How can you go to Allans shop to get a pin turned on & not get a tune???

At least that's what was going through my head. So I got the pin turned on for the e-fans, took off down the road, got about a mile away and figured 'the heck with it!' - turned around and got the tune. What's that term...?

Well worth it! I love the difference obviously in accelleration, but also the shifting is incredible. It was so sluggish before compared to now!

And you really thought you would just get a pin turned on???????

Ok, so now that you all have peaked my interest, will I really notice a difference, and how much will it set me back? I live just south of Fort Worth, so a trip down there would not be too terribly bad. But, isn't there anyone in the DFW area that can do this? Thanks in advance for the info.

Ok, I guess I am missing something, but I am wondering what you are meaning by getting a pin turned on? Is this something to do with somekind of mod or part of a tune up??

Sorry to ask a dumb question or that I have missed something, but it sounds interesting.

When you put electric fans in, you plug the harness (available from Nelson Performance) into pin 42 of the PCM. That pin is not turned on by the factory, so someone with the necesssary software has to do it for you. Once that pin is turned on, you can install the fans and they will function properly.

Thanks for the info Moze. My next question would be, do the fans actually add power and better gas mileage?? And could someone post a picture of this mod or upgrade?

When your stock fan would normally come on, it causes considerable drag on the engine. So replacing them with the electric fans would give you additional power at the time the stock fan would normally kick on. I'm not sure how much, if at all, it affects gas mileage. There may be some gain due to less drag on the engine, but it's probably minimal. One of the main reasons for doing it is they keep the engine cooler than the stock fan. I can send you some pictures if you'd like...just give me your email.

The stock fan is always dragging the hydrolic fluid in the clutch and when the fluid is hot enough it will "lock up" the clutch and really create 12-15 hp of drag. An electric fan will not drag at all and only uses 1/2 hp when engaged.

Plus the clutch fan uses the heat that is already hot coming across the clutch and may not catch up to the real heat being generated. The electric fan uses accurate numbers and turns on and off instantly.
