I drove her for the 1st time in about 7 months. A-M-A-Z-I-N-G!!! Replacing all the steering components with new stuff, shocks and struts, new calipers, rotors and brakes, John's shaft (ewww), sphon wonderbar as well adj. panhard (still needs some adj.) eibach springs (sits nice and low, nice and snug, gotta take the isolators out the back so it sits right), energy suspension bushing kit (had to buy the swap bar one seprately, thank god autozone started selling them). Even though i haven't put any power mods on, it definitely feels like it's getting more power to the ground. It felt so nice and snug on the road, very flush indeed. Gonna take it this weekend to the goodyear shop so i can get an alignment, it really needs it. It felt good!!!! Now i know how people feel when they smoke a cig after a several years.!!!!

gj, i know that feeling, i did almost all my suspension mods (all except torque arm) before i swapped out the engine, suspension alone makes a world of difference, congrats on gettin her back on the road!

bad ass....man you did alot to the suspension...now if you do ever choose to change engine performance your car should have no problem with it...

Yeah, it was a bitch getting all the old stuff off. We had to cut several things because of years of corrison. Can't wait until i get the sub-frames on, just gotta find some one to weld them on for me. Those mods made a world of difference.

wrightz28
03-16-2006, 11:31 AM
Just make sure it's someone you can trust welding them on. Carpets seem to catch on fire way to often doing the left rear.

All hell... guess I'm gonna have to look around. My pops knows a couple of people who were cool with my grandpa, so I'll try them out 1st. I'm definitely gonna have to get the floor board replace behind the driver side for sure. I did an underbody inspection while it was up in the air, and the floor board is soft and weak, has a little gun shot hole in it (damn u rust!!!). That's the only rusted area on the damn car. Pissed me off majorly.

wrightz28

haha, you call that rust? I have got to get a picture of what's left of my floor board on here some day, it's a beaut.

Good thing replacement body parts are not that expensive, just expensive to get some one to put them on for you. I'll fix it soon. Just painted the whole underbody, wish i had some POR15. It should last until i get in cahoots with some people at WyoTech. Good grades = Free shit and labor!!! The cancer is not that bad yet, hopefully i can get rid of it in time.

I'm really giving up hope and looking into a rolling chassis. I'd love to get my hands on a t-top car anyway. Maybe red, meh there goes the mid life crisis into gear :D

I love the t-tops!!! Especially when it's nice and warm outside. Really great. The hum of the exhaust is phnominial (sp?)!!!! But you gotta hate the leaks though.

Congrats man, I know that feeling as well. Infact its probably going to be a few months til I get to drive the formula again.the rear wheels right now are sitting in old wheels waiting for the body to get hoisted over the engine and tranny.

To be honest, around 2k to 3k. More then i wanted to spend, but she is my baby. Gotta do her up right. At 1st, i was just gonna replace the shocks and springs, which later turn into brand new tires, brakes, calipers, rotors, steering compents, had to fix rim because it was warped. It depends. The stuff on my car was all original and had recieved the best corrision from the elements. I'll tell you one thing though, she's is very crisp in response right now, even without the alignment. No more strange knocking, clapping noises when you take a sharp turn, just goes with the flow. My interior is a mess right now though. And the shifter is half put together an shit. I got plenty of time this weekend to finesse it though.

I got a 70 that's got one little itty bitty rust spot, corner pass side door jamb, that I'd let go for a reasonable price. :naughty: Little TLC and you're good to go. OK ok ok... rebuild the engine and trans and THEN you're good to go. T-tops???? Meh... the sun gets behind your sunglasses at lunch time.... never liked them much.

Nice going, man. Get some pics up and you'll get a new sig.. haha

Anyway, remember dude.. if you got crappy suspension, your power wont go anywhere.. our friend Andy proved this when he beat that Viper a while ago..

that's good to hear link, I did all this as well before i started the engine swap, but I didn't get to drive it to see how much of a difference it made. as soon as i was done, it went up on all 4's and the SFC's got welded in and the following saturday the engine/trans was pulled. I can't wait to see how it comes out, even tho i won't remember how it used to drive and handle before.

i hate having ttops now...at night lights coming in in all directions, when cars are behind you at night seeing their lights in your mirror, you can see the lights reflecting off the ttops and back glass....i really wish i still had a coupe!

Geno, believe me, you'll notice the difference if your car.s suspension was crap before (like mine, never changed). It has very, very crisp response. It lights em up a helluva look easier (from a punch). Rally, I'm gonna take some pics this weekend, after alignment and hopefully subframe go in. Finally got some decent louvers for a reasonable price and found a perfectly new bra at the junkyard, which i got for free. Hopefully this weekend is a nice one.

Dont put a bra on it.. they look so bad and the color on your car doesnt fade away evenly.
