Hey there, this is my first post on this forum, my name is Sam, Im from Dayton, Ohio.
I just got a 97 Passat GLX back in January. It came with an after market keyless entry system (AutoPage X85, I believe). After looking around on some websties it turns out that this system has remote start too. The thing is, The remote start, and trunk open buttons dont do anything. Also, when I lock/unlock the doors, it doesnt make a sound through the cars horn, but it does make a beep/buzz sound inside the car from down by the fuse box.. I looked around down thre and found the little system module, everythign was plugged in and everything, but still, the trunk doesnt open and the car doesnt start remotly.
Any body know anything about this stuff? Maybe its deactivated on purpose, or maye just doesnt work on VW's?
Any help would be appreciated.
Thanks,
-Sam

Glad to have you here. Don't listen to Salome. If what he says is true then the aftermarket bizz wouldn't be outselling new car sales.
Autopage, I am not a dealer of but have installed a few. They aren't the nicest units but definately not the worst. Now, I don't know about a X85 number. I think it's something more. Here's a copy of an owner's manual. My guess you are not pressing the buttons right or if you bought the car from a dealer, the dealer has disconnected things.

thanks for the info. I'll have to check up on that model number tomorrow, when its light outside.
Its definatly not a top of the line system, but its just what came on the car, Im not all that concerned about it enough to buy a new one.. as long as its opening the doors. haha... Itd be nice to get the trunk to open though.. Ill try out the stuff on that link.
thanks again.

No problem. If you can't figure it out, just PM me. I run a mobile service but you are a little far for me but maybe we could meet in Columbus or something?
