air intake

well, i installed an after market air intake. and if i hook the hoses up, the car cuts out at 3000 rpms in 5th gear. why??? and the catalayic converter glows red!!!!!! why is this?

There is air sensor (or something like that), and if the air to gas mixture is not correct, then it will be too rich ar lean, in my opinion. Place the old "stuff" back on and try it, then you will know if the problem is with your new contraption.
