i have a 96 altima with 160,000 miles the car will turn off when its on idle & press the gas pedal to about 6000rpm afeter it kills itself wont start, have to wait 30 to 45 min & will start again. i have changed recently the distributor, distributor cap, rotor, crankshaft sensor and egr valve about six months ago. i noticed also that if i drive car will get about to 50mph & will die on me on the road & wont start either, also noticed that after it dies if i turn key to on position 3 to 4 times the car will start ?? please advise with any help.

I wonder.. It almost sounds like it could be an ignition switch .. When you run into the situation were you cant start it.. Try to turn the ignition switch very slowly , If it starts as you cycle the key and dies as you finish the cycle , then it would be a bad switch in the ignition cylinder and would need to be replaced. Other than that, the only other thing i could think of that would make a car die when driving is the distributor. Even though you changed it, I have seen after market distributor go with in a month or so . GL :)
