My grandfather has turned 74 and has given me his Green 1998 Lincoln Town Car Executive Series. The car has an aftermarket alarm with auto start, and a 12 disc cd changer in the trunk. It has 57,000 miles on it, and runs like brand new. My grandfather for his birthday recieved a new 2006 Lincoln Town Car Ultimate. The Town Car is a very reliable car, I see them being used as livery taxi's in NYC. Also I have owned a 1990 Lincoln Town Car in the past which I ended up selling in 2003 for 2K.

I am planning to drive the car from my house in New Jersey to my house in Florida during the month of May. I have a car that gets me around in Jersey, and gets better gas mileage than the Lincoln.

The engine in the Lincoln Town Car is the 4.6L V-8, and has proven to be a very reliable engine. My best friends mom has a 1991 Lincoln Town Car and is still in use today. My friends dad also used to own an 83 Lincoln Town car, but that was totaled in 2001 by a Lincoln Continental.

What I love most about the Lincoln is that its like driving a Sherman Tank, no on dares merge with you.

Yeah a tank is right plus i dont let ppl merge anyway i just speed it up so they have to get in the back,Most people around here cant hold their horses and drive like idiots. The speed limit on the road i live on is 60 people drive 80 and up a couple of times ive had to do over 100! The 4.6 isnt exactly a gas saver lol but what do you expect the car weighs over 4,000 pounds Gas is getting pretty high around here thanks to spring break from 2.15 to 2.40 in a matter of days and it's going up and i'm already down to 85 miles till empty :(

Here in So.Cal we have folks that cut off the Luxury cars just 'cause they know the drivers will give way to save their car.

I have more people cutting in front of my Town Car than anything else I drive, with the exception of my F250, nobody cuts in front of that monster.

Re: "..i dont let ppl merge anyway i just speed it up so they have to get in the back.." That makes me laugh :grinyes:

No offense but, I like to flash my turn signal just to watch boneheads speed up the the bumper in front of them :naughty:

Then if I need to move over, I don't even bother signalling to these kind of people, I just move over, if they take offense Fuck 'em.

Anyone that signals to me, I let 'em in, that's just the polite thing to do.

Yeah when they actually use their signals which is rare around here i let them, but there are some ppl that will tailgate you for miles before they decide to pass you and i mean TAILGATE they will get soooooooooo close to your bumper and i find that mostly women do that (stupid drivers) One lady tailgated me for 15 miles and i guess she got pissed because i wouldnt move but hey there is no law that says you have to move aside right and along the way i kept slamming on the brakes then i guess she got brave and got in the other lane to pass but it was on a uphill and i just floored it up to about 98 and watched the instant mpg go down to 6 lol and i looked back she was still in the other lane but about 2 car lengths back then she gets back on my bumper on the streight road then she attempts to pass but i dont let off the gas and she gets in the back just to turn down her road not even 1/2 She couldnt wait to get to her house and change her depends i guess lol there is no excuse going over 100mph to go anywhere unless to the hospital or something in that nature. My rule of the road is respect those that respect you and for the other ones that dont respect you just give em the finger and fuck em lol, and watch the other driver because they might be watching you

My dad had a 95 TC and I always teased him about it until he loaned it to me to drive to Iowa. Promptly fell in love with it. Got 27mpg on that trip, better than my wife's 01 Sable. Driving that tank was like riding in my living room. Whata nice car. Shoulda kept it after dad passed away but now I have a Mercury Grand Marquis..the "poor man's Lincoln" and you know something? It's a great car. It's basically a TC anyway without some of the bells and whistles and it cost about 1/2 as much. Also gets in the mid 20s mpg on the highway and "average" 20mpg. Not bad for a tank. Absolutely huge trunk. My only complaint is when it snows. Really lousy traction even with so-called "traction control". Definitely needs snow ties and about 500lbs of sand in the back. Does not help gas mileage. My wife says it is an "old mans" car but she takes the keys to it whenever I'm not looking. Mine is an LSE model with the console shift and dual exhaust. I don't think Merc offers it anymore which is too bad. It's hard to kill a Grand Marquis. Will easily go 200,000 miles without breaking a sweat. Sooner or later though, I'm going to find a nice low mileage TC.
