:banghead: I have a 92 S10 Tahoe, The other night the headlights went out and smoke was coming out of the instrument cluster. Took dash off and rfeplaced the headlight switch and the dimmer switch plus a couple of bulbs on the cluster. The headlights work. but the instrument cluster is black, oh I forgot to mention its digital. I have been told that the circuit board for the cluster should be relpaced, can't find a digital one at a junkyark anywhere. The dealership wants $400 to repair it. Anyone have any ideas.

Do a google search on "instrument cluster repair". There are places that will fix the cluster unit for less money but you have to send the unit to them. Also, check locally in your area for places that repair instrument clusters. They'll probably fix it for less than the dealer charges to replace the unit. When I checked with my local Chevy dealer for cluster parts, I was told they didn't stock any parts for clusters.
I got lucky making a few phone calls to local shops and found a shop that would sell me a odometer motor for $35 (my 93 S10 Blazer is digital in the sense that the computer controls the speedometer and odometer but the mileage indicator is mechanical and is driven by a motor which I knew was bad). One of the repair websites wanted $50 for the same motor.
