Burnout in Cherokee

Alright, you were all 16 once in your life, or at one point wanted to try a burnout in a car. Dont lie, you all have wanted to, or have done a burnout.

Well, today was my day to try it. I got some tips from a kid at school and after school I went to a state forest where they have some nice smooth paved roads out in the middle of nowhere.

I pushed in the clutch, revved it to about 4000 rpm's, dropped the clutch and gave it plenty of gas and had my left foot planted on the brake. I did it for about 7-10 seconds and it made a hell of a smoke show. It was fun once and now its out of my system and I nolonger have the urge to do it.

One question? How bad is doing burnouts bad on the tires/engine/brakes/drivetrain? I am not gonna ruin my jeep if I did it once or twice right?

Also, my friend who was behind me said he only saw alot of smoke from the right rear tire and not much from the left.

first of all burn outs are pretty bad for your tires. i dont think they affect your front brakes but your back brakes are going to act against the rotation so they are abviosly wearing, although probably not significantly. dropping the cluth at a high RPM is probably bad as well. My 1989 jeep cherokee is an automatic and all i have to do is hold the brakes and give it a decent amount of gas and it is smoke city.

But all thing considered go for it . i personally peel out all the time. and do doughnuts in the rain and off road. at least i did before i got my new BrigeStone Dulers. i want to be nice to these babys:evillol: .

also the one tire spinnig and the other not is due to the fact that you dont have a limited slip differentian in the rear axel. the reson it is the right and not the left could either mean that the left tire has more grip or better brakes.

My vehicles have withstood many,many good burnouts without much trouble. It wears tires,and if you overwork the open diff, you'll likely trash the spidergears. Common sense goes a long way here, and pay attention to the feedback feel of the truck. Good fun usually entails a certain amount of risk.

side bit of advice:If you get the idea to try low range clutch drops to light all 4 wheels, I'd suggest you resist it.*S*
