Rust Questions

I live in the rust and pothole capitol of the world - New York State. I have a 2001 Ford Taurus with 32000 miles on it. I am lucky beucase it has had maybe 3 out of its 5 years in the winter, the other two, it was rarely driven. I do have some rust starting, but alot less than any other five year old vehicle from New York would.

I noticed that some stores sell stuff that is supposed to turn rust into black primer

How do these things work? Do they work? If so, I really would like to buy like 3 cans and get at any rust under the car before it gets bad, and eventually, I'd like to get the whole thing under the car with primer so it doesn't start to rust bad.

According to Rust Bullet's web site (anybody ever try it, I got some cans but haven't had a chance to try it out) you just put it on and that's it...I would think that whatever is in the rust killer bonds to the oxygen and seals it off but I am no expert.

Also, did anybody ever try one of those electric rust prevention devices ? I live in New York state too and have similar problems, as a matter of fact, I will have my car painted and fixed up soon...
