hey, i have heard about shimming the wastegate on an 87 turbo. i was wondering if it safe? also how much power can you expect from it? also, what mods will take me to 300 hp?:sun:

I dont know much about the shimmed wastegate, but i am currently purchasing an 87 turbo. Here are the mods that I recommed:K&N FIPK, GReddy cat-back exhaust, a boost controller, downpipe and test pipe(illegal). that should get you to about 300hp. If you add a lightweight flywheel and lightweight pulleys it will free up some horsepower and rev faster, but you could shorten the life of your engine by replacing the stock underpulley. Also you can have a turbo upgrade done on the CT-26 which will add about 45hp. But before you do that you should get the Lexus AFM mod, a fuel regulator, and 550cc injectors. After that there isnt too much left. Intercooler upgrade and maybe some little things that would just make it run better and last longer. You realize that if you do all this you will ahve to upgrade your clutch system and you should get a metal head gasket. If your super serious check out a lightweight driveshaft. That's all that I know about the MkIII Turbo. Someone else may feel free to add anything.

okay, wait, if i just ordered a high flow cat, is that in place of the test pipe? would the down pipe be up higher on the exhaust toward the turbo? confused about that.

On the MkIII supra there are two cats. The downpipe is to replace the precat that is just below the turbo (i think) and the testpipe replaces the second cat, just before the muffler.

shimming your wastegate would be safe, just don't put too much washers on, like two on each side. SOGI should have the info. That would boost you up a little from stock boost to 10psi. Impresive huh.
