'97 suburban with intermittent tail lights, sometimes they work, sometimes they dont. Changed the light switch, fuses seem to be good. Any idea where I should start looking? Has there been any history of this problem?

Thanks

S210 Instrument panel harness 12cm from steering column breakout could be the problem. Looks like it should be a group of brown wires.

S412 Rear lamp harness 23cm from taillamp extension breakout. If it is only the rears being effected I would suspect this.

That's great info - I have a 96 Suburban that the tail lights just stopped working - everything else is fine. brake lights work/back up lights work

Where is the location of the S412 rear lamp harness?

Is there a separate ground for the tail lights (my first thought)?

Should I disconnect my trailer harnesses to see if they are the culprit?

Thanks
Brian

follow your trailer wiring back behind the bumper and it should connect to a harness. That is the culprit. Yes disconnect the trailer harness and try it, it worked for me.

Go with the trailer wiring first. That's was the issue for me; previous owner didn't do the best job and the wires eventually rubbed through the insulation and shorted to ground.

Trailer wiring splices were the problem just as you all had predicted. :worshippy
Two out of 4 wires from the OEM plug rotted out since they were pulled out and were unprotected.
Thanks!
