Hello again folks
I few weeks ago I bought a Astro 96, I asked here for some feedback in order to know what should I must check before to start traveling
At this moment it works pretty good, but this 96 Astro has 193,000 miles on it, I have read that engine could work pretty good before 230,000
But how accurate it’s this?
Should I start getting worry about this “mile issue”
Any comment will be highly appreciated

well now i have 210 on my 90, so here's what you want to c heck and do, remember i am not a mechanic, i always change the oil and filter every 2500. and now that you have that many miles, get the trannie drained and flushed and a new filter put on it, check the rear end grease, is this all wheel drive??, definitely get a grease job on it, check the belt for cracks, radiator hoses for wear, by taking one off and lookin inside of it, air filter, pcv valve, are you getting an knocking noises, just remember, that many miles, dont ram on it, they have been known to last 100k more. well thats my best advice, myself i am now rebuilding the intake and headgasket on mine. good luck

Regular maitenance will make your engine last longer such as regular oil change on both engine and tranny and your differential to make the engine work smoothly. I am not a professional mechanic, but i do my own repair and maintenance and working with this van as a courier? cargo that weights about 3500 LBS? well she was doing pretty until she reached 652.00.00 KM. Yup she gave her soul away. mine was putting too much stress on the engine for the weight, but average commuters? you could go a bit higher than that. it is all matter of taking care of your vehicle and make regular oil changes at 2500 to 3500 KM.
Just make sure that you do not run out of oil as you might damage "or will i should say" your head, seats and other parts.
hope that helps.
Cheers

It sounds like you are getting to peranoyed about this i think you should just lay back and enjoy the ride just make sure you have change the oil, oil filter, check the distributor and the spark plugs make sure they are in good shape before you go on a long trip I have had my van for 5 years and there is 423,000 KM on it and recently it got stolen and it was fond with a blown rear end so just keep the regular maintenance up on it and you should be fine "GL"
