I just purchased a 1998 Dodge Ram 1500 W/Power Windows/Locks, Did not get a keyless remote and just wondering if there is a chance that it may be equipped with this feature how could I tell?
Thanks

Docsplacecall a dodge dealership and give them your vin # they will tell you if it is equipped. If it is, the remotes are fairly expensive and can only be bought from dodge.(the factory remotes)

I found a factory remote, Just need to see if it is equipped, I'll try that but don't like bugging the dealers they get tired of that, Iv'e called them a few times over a jeep lately and they were complaining about getting so many of these type of calls. I was hopeing there was another way to tell if it was equipped.

I guess I'll look around for a remote starter with door locks, Any suggestions of a good one?

Viper is a reputable brand. I've got a compustar and no complaints.

depending on what kind, I think you could install a remote starter w/ a remote to unlock the doors. You would get the best of both worlds then. I have put design tech remote starters in 2 of my vehicles and they both had the power door lock remotes that worked great, it goes through its own module to unlock the doors. I do have factory remotes also, but i don't think it matters since the remote starter has its own module. I bought mine new off ebay for 50 or 60.00.

I sell Python, Viper, Automate, Valet, and Design tech at my shop which all are made by DEI. They are pretty decent. I also have Compustar and feel they give you a little more for the money especially in range. You can usually find them on Ebay and such. It'll be harder to find a dealer for Compustar versus DEI.
