Hi. I am the new owner of a VW Jetta. It is a 1994 Model Jetta
GLS III and it has the 2.0L gasoline engine in it. I did not pay much for the car because it was in need of repair. I do not claim to be a mechanic but I do enjoy working on my own vechicles and I can turn a wrench and read schematics. I have been reading these forums for a while and I have found a lot of help in here. This is the first time I have posted. Okay back to my problem. The car turns over but does not start. I have an alldata subscription and I have been through listed procudure and it points to the ECU. I went to two local shops here were I live the are VW Service centers to check for a used replacement. Both places insisted that the computer was not the problem. I explained what I did to arrive at the conclusion and they still insisted that It was not the problem. One place wants me to bring the car in for them to look at. Does anyone have any input on this? I explained to both people that I understand everyone is in business to make money. I talk them that I would gladly purchase any parts I needed from them for their trouble. But them insisted that I did know what I was doing and I should let them do the repair. Any comments would be welcomed. Thank you
