2000 Eclipse GT vs 2001 Mustang

I'm trying to decide which to buy... The eclipse is loaded with options, but costs a few $k more, it has 6k less miles, but is FWD, I'm wanting RWD... they're horsepower is very comparable... The Eclipse will have to be transferred to a local lot ($150)... the Mustang will transfer for free (in-state)... The eclipse is Blue, the Mustang black (I want a black car)... I'm not a big Ford fan, but I guess it would work. What is everyone else's POV on this situation...

oh yeah, I already have aftermarket parts that will fit the eclipse (i.e. cold air intake, made for the 6g72, Eclipse V6/3000GT/Stealth)...

i dont like mustangs that much but if it is a gt i would get the stang, if it is a v6 get the eclipse.

well, that Mustang is a V6... but I just found the "bullit" and am looking up some info on that... I don't intend on keeping either car stock... but looking for the one with cheapest mods and most potential...

a bullit mustang is a GT with a different interior (seats/gauges) a builltt intake (very popular among modded mustangs) what 'were' builltt wheels, no spoiler, buillitt badging and different sideskirts i think and small mudflaps behind the wheels, thats about all i can think of.

If you go for a GT/bullitt its performance is definately better than the eclipse even as far as "potential" goes. I am sure performance could go either way with the V6 stang vs the Eclipse.

The V6 'Stang is no slouch, I think it'd take the Eclipse. I'd go for the Mustang.

how much power does a 2001 v6 have?

It has 193 hp at 5500 rpm and 225 ft-lbs at 2800 rpm. It weighs about 3100 pounds and does 0-60 in the mid sevens.

Why not just save up and get a GT Mustang? The V8 is more reliable than the V6 and gets pretty much the same MPG...

Just something to consider.

both ideas have since gone out the window... I decided to get a '97 Eclipse... it's the RS (slow), but cheap enough... and I'm getting a house... so money's gonna be tight for awhile

So why ask us if you were going to go w/another decision? Ugh...

Well, I wasn't goin to go with another decision... but some things happened... and financially, I couldn't have gotten that car... I'm needing a car, and getting a house... and a/b to have to pay lawyer fees (suing the guy and insurance who happened to hit my car, see sig)
