well i have a 1989 iroc z 5.7L i was wondering if i could put twin turbo's in when it has tune port injection system or is there not enuff room. and one more thing was im tryin to get the acceleration up because right now im all stock and i heard it was 240hp and 328lbs of torque im tryin to beat a eagle talon with 350hp and i dont have alot of money to spend so does anyone have any suggestions so i dont put camaros to shame

lol how little money are you talkin bout? if his talon has 350 then he's spent alot, and no matter what cars you have you can't win a money war. but to wake up the tpi, i would recommend lt4 hot cam, 1.6 roller rockers, ram jet intake manifold, tpi ram air intake (worth more than most would think), 52mm throttle body, electric water pump, long tube headers, and true duals, pcm tuning, shift kit, ratchet shifter, alluminum driveshaft, 3.73 gears, some sticky tires, adjustible torque arm, adjustible lower control arms. still don't know if you'll win or not, but those are some basic mods you can really wake up the tpi with... on top of all that you can throw on a supercharger w/ relativley low boost... but i would do those mods first. i wouldn't recommend twin turbo unless you're really good at fabbing up shit, i'm not aware of any bolt-on kits

those mods w/out the supercharger should get you more power output than he has, but 350hp in a light weight car is pretty hard to beat

i take that back, you could spray the engine for cheap... but be safe about nitrous... no more than a 150 shot on a stock block

well i only have a $1,000 wich is nothing but so far ive only done tune ups like all sinthetic fluids and k&n filters spark plugs and wires and cap and its a auto. i dont like the nitrious idea because i dont wanna put i lot of stress on her. but for a grand what can i get that i would get the most out of her
thanks for the info

tpi ram air intake (100)
long tube headers and true duals (300 or so)
shift kit (100 or so)
3.73 gears (300-400 guessing)
pcm tuning (bout 75)
you trade those for a few things depending on how much work u want to do...
like a cam swap and roller rockers etc.

Realize that even with those mods youll be hard pressed to beat a 350 hp talon especially if its awd. How many miles are on your car?

Upgrading to one of these would gaurantee a win over almost everything on the street.

Also something else to consider. To get to 350 hp at the wheels either takes a passion for this kind of stuff or a lot of money. Most of the time both.

if your low on money TT's are not the answer, try other stuff like exhaust, make it breath better, then maybe a small shot of the cheater juice

Do all the bolt ons you can think of and you'll probably be around 350 at the crank.

Pull a "Clyde" on him... you'll win and you won't even have to get out of first. And what would that cost you??? $10??? Chessesteak and a beer would do it just about right.
Seriously though, you'll have to do some serious slavge yard shopping to get what you need to stay within your budget. Sucks, I know... I'm just steppin out of your boat.
Clyde him... and he won't mess with you either.

im telling u now, 350 hp is alot of work with little money to spend. hell even mild moded ls1 cars would have a great fight with that talon. u are talking about getting over 150 hp in your car, hell people spend 2k to get gains like that, now nitrous would be the easy way to go, but i never tell anyone to spray the piss out of a stock block. and as for the stress, blowers, turbos all that stuff puts stress on your ride, no such thing as a power adder that doesnt put stress on the engine.this is a game of power, and spending money to fix shit that u broke lol. u have to start off slow, and add what u can when u can, it takes time, we dont have no brian spilners in here that can just go to a shop and say give me 2 of everything by 2nite. another note, dont start off picking a fight with a bad ass like a 350hp talon, u gotta start slow, then work your way up to that.... or u can look like me at the track getting beat down by 2 400+hp camaro's...trust me, not cool! u will get him one day, just not 2day... the guys gave u some good tips to start with so good luck.

Yep, I'm an afro american. It's funny to see the faces of people when the see me driving the IROC!!! They basicallt tell me what the hell am i driving that for. Unbelieveable. To the original poster, turbo'n your car would definitely be a long term project, not something you can just throw together over the weekend, unless you got's madd dough!!! I plan on turbo'n my car, but in the far feature. But, i just may go the supercharger route, for the simple fact that it a helluve alot easier to bolt, with less or maybe no fabrication at all. I actually have a supercharger on the way now, and will install in school as a class project. Like philly said, these things take time and research. You'll get him someday, just not today (or yesterday for that matter). Btw Jim, i've been trying to grow a mullet, but seems to be impossble with my hair texture!!! (Doesn't matter if you when by an inch or a mile, a win is a win, am I right?)
