Hi, Im new to this forum and I have been reading like crazy trying to find a posting about bed swapping.
I currently own an 06 silverado crew cab. I actually wanted an ext. cab sportisde, but the crew cab was a pretty good deal:wink: . I am really obsessed with the sportside bed, and I wanted to know if there is any way to change the fleetside to a sportside either by simply unbolting the old one and changing it to a new one or soldering the sportside bed to the frame or drilling.. whichever type:banghead:
thanks in advance for your replies:rolleyes:

Your crew cab bed is shorter than a regular ext cab or regular cab bed would be. You'd have to shorten the bed, or extend the frame.

yep, their different sizes. would look pretty odd on a CC in my opinion. but it would definetly be original.

I'm no fan at all of the sportside. The obs I liked it, the nbs fucked it up. On a crew cab it would look very strange.

Yeah you are right i guess I'll stick to the flareside besides changing it at this time would be too expensive and i rather usea that money in other simpler mods.. thank you for your advise:)

I was a stepside (flare-side/sport-side) fan... until the NBS. They stopped making the stepside after 05' because it wasn't selling. It wasn't selling because it looks terrible on the NBS. In the 80's/90's the "hips" were square with the truck. In the 90's early 00's the hips were rounded with the truck. With the NBS, there was no way to make it look good which stinks. It's one of those things you like or you don't, but the NBS, made those who liked it not like it anymore. Who knows, maybe they'll bring it back retro in 10 years or so. I was going to get an extended cab just for the stepside, but since they don't make it... might as well get a full door.
BTW, anyone know why a CC is less than an XC?

well the CC was more than the XC, but it was not a big difference. The XC was around 16,500, while the CC was 19,500, and they didn't have any sportsides XC, so I thought well, if I'm going to have a flare side, might as well have a CC for the 3K difference.

The true name of the regular body is the "FLEETSIDE." The Flareside you guys keep saying is really the name the FORD boys call their sportside.
Please quit cussin' when you speak about a CHEVY.....

Ive seen a 96 CC stepside on ebay once. It didnt look that bad but I agree that the NBS stepsides look gay.
