I don't know about the 2000's but I can tell you what i did to my 92. First I assume that you got the right size speakers? The covers over the speakers should pop right off. Then get in the trunk and take out the two wires from the speaker. Then you'll probably have to take out a couple of screws to pop out the old speak. Get the new speaker, screw her in, connect her up, put the cover on, and jam.

:) thanks man but from under the trunkI can see plastci clip holding the stock speakers.... I was like wtf... I thought the speakers were held by screws. and what about the rear board panel? Would I have to remove that also?

yeah taking out the speakers in the back of a civic is a bitch, i took the speakers out of my 97 civic 2 door, i assume that you have a 2 door because you have an si. you gotta take out, or unclip the rear side panel on each side of the car, or maybe take it out, its alot easier that way. then you can remove the rear deck panel. then theres screws holding the speakers on. if you don't wanna remove the rear side panels, then you have to unclip them, pull on them, theres a lip on the door that you gotta pull on, don't pull too hard or else it'll break, then pull up the rear deck panel on both sides, then fold down rear seats and pull the side panel out as far as you can, and pullthe rear panel out. thats it, but much rather do it by taking it out. it may sound complicated but really not, do it that way, or else you gonna pay a car stereo installer like 30 bucks to install it.
