'01 Trooper Front Wheel Noise

I just purchased an '01 Trooper from a reputable dealer who is also a family friend. Engine and vehicle are in great condition. However, I noticed today when I turn the wheel hard left or right that there is a thumping noise. Almosts sounds like something rubbing against dry rubber?!
I changed oil, oil filter, air filter and had an expert check the chasis to be sure it was lubed correctly. Everything checks out, but the noise is still there.
Any thoughts on what this would be? Thanks...

do you have over-sized tires on the vehicle, or standard size? Could the tire be rubbing on the wheel well flaring?
STOP making hard right and left turns....make soft ones instead.

Yeah, already thought of that 99trooper01, but they are standard sized tires...I had an '86 Nissan that I had that problem with. It's clearly NOT the tire rubbing. And it's not necessarily the HARD turning that does it. Even when backing out of a parking space, the noise is there.
I jacked the trooper up and rocked the tires to see if it was maybe a bearing, but no play at all in the tire.
Has anyone had a problem with the wishbbone suspension making a noise?...perhaps it's not properly greased...that is my next check.
Any other comments are appreciated. Thanks.....

i had this problem as well in my 96 trooper. i dont have it now and i dont remember what i did to fix it, my girlfriend also had this problem in her 94 camry and she went to her mechanic and it was something to do with alignment, have you had that checked, it was a little more expensive than an alignment i think.
