AWD popping under acceleration

I'm looking at buying my friend's GVR-4, and under hard acceleration in 2nd gear right after it hit full boost, the rear end started popping. I'm kinda curious to what could cause that! Rear Driveshaft or axles in the rear maybe? It doesn't seem to be coming from the front, and it is distinct popping not like a drum roll, but maybe 16th's or 8th's notes in succession on a snare drum. It never happens under normal everyday driving.

I searched some, but i didn't find anything similar to this problem

as far as mod's

K&N filter
2.5 downpipe and exhaust
ported 14b
MBC @ 15psi

If it's got something wrong, i wanna make sure its fixed before i buy it. So can anyone help or kno what might be happening?

i mean.. its a GVR-4 for sale, i'm not passing it up :grinno:

thanks to those of you that help

Yeah you shouldn't buy it, give me his number and i'll dispose of it before it harms you, or anyone else. J/P. How much you buying it for?

Or it could be the rear wheel bearings going bad.

the interior is immaculate, no tears, not much wear in the leather
engine rebuilt 2 times in the last 20k miles... (dumbass before him)
new brakes
new waterpump
new alternator
128k? miles
rebuilt trans
no oil leaks whatsoever anywhere anymore
new BFG T/A tires on it too, stock wheels

All Galant VR-4's are standard to my knowledge, its better that way

The joints on on the driveshaft are going.
so i'll have him take care of that, and maybe the foglight and i'll be good go :smokin:

Oh yeah, hailed the last 2 days b/t the sizes of golfballs and baseballs, so it is gunna be even cheaper b/c of hail damage :icon16: ...i'll just dub it "dimples"

he's selling it to me before anyone, cuz we've known each other so long, and i had my eyes on it first and helped him get it. I've just spent too much money on the eclipse and need a daily so i don't have to drive it. If i don't end up buying it i'll let you kno ;)

oh and i can't imagine it is wheel bearings, it makes no other noise associated w/ that problem... so prolly a no go on that one
