i've heard alot of problems that can occur with a 2002 Impreza WRX turbo... maybe you guys can clear some of this stuff up... i've heard that because it's AWD, the case fluid tends to leak... also, i've heard that the engines arent very reliable, (rally cars should kick ass in reliability, shouldnt they??)..... i have $23K in cash, and im either going to buy a 1993 RX7 turbo, or a slightly used 2002 WRX.... anyways, what exactly would i need for this car to improve reliability right off the bat? thanks...

also, i've heard that a 2000 Civic SI is just as fast as a 2002 WRX up until 3rd gear... is this true??

Who ever told you that is a late night rock licker...AKA crack smoker. No civic si of any sort from factory can keep up with a rex for three gears.

Hopefully that answers your question!

You wont be dissapointed if you buy a Subaru...very fun car to drive...you wont wanna get out of the drivers seat!!

if your scared of buying a wrx because of reliablity definatly do not buy a rx-7. from what i have seen rx-7 engines are definatly not bulit proof. hell, its a great car i wish i had on myself, but in no way have i heard thies cars to be reliable. i couldnt tell you how reliable the wrx is because it just hasent been around that long. for the year ive had mines ive had no problems even with increased boost and modifications that put huge stress on the engine. good luke bud, if i were you id go with the newer car garenteed less problems

a highly modified civic would still be slower than a stock rex.

i've done a good bit of mod's and have put on over 20k miles on my rex with no problems. i got it in may 2001 and i'm very pleased with the purchase!

stated simply an automatic wrx shouldn't have any difficulties beating an 00 Civic Si and beating it by quite a good deal.

Well as far as your delema between a MY02 WRX and an RX -7 FD3S. I'd go RX-7. If you have $23k, figure you pay $18k for the FD, then spend a few thousand on a new radiator, getting rid of the AST, replacing the catted uppipe and getting an oil cooler/catch pan. And you have a rock solid FD. Which you will find, performance wise, will be much quicker then the WRX. Unless you really really really want 4wd. But with some practice and good rubber, you will be glad you got the 7.

Thats just the way I'd go though :D

i have to agree with this. the RX-7 is not a reliable car. also expect to pay top dollar for any needed repairs to the wankel engine. i can also atest to the ability of the wrx's engine being able to handle huge amounts of stress.

i beat a stock civic si in my honda accord and that thing sucked ass, running high 15s and low 16s. i raced my friend in his wrx and he kicked my ass. so there you go.
