I posted earlier about my ABS light being on. Well, it went off, the Brake light came on for a minute or two, then it went off and both are off now and have been for the past day. Couple questions. One, any ideas what the problem could be? Two, If there are no lights on when I take it in to get the codes read, are those codes stil stored if the lights are off now? By the way, I've checked the ABS fuses and the wiring at the front wheels for the ABS and they appear OK. The truck had new brakes and front rotors less than a year ago. I also was having some problems with my 4wd buttons where it wouldn't change into the right mode. Had to hold the 4lo and 2hi butons together to get it out of auto 4wd? I unhooked the battery for 10 minutes and re connected it which seemed to fix the 4wd problem. Is it possible that all these things are related to one single problem?

To get ABS codes you need to test it when the ABS light is on.
When it comes on leave key on engine running and get it checked.
When the key is turned back off codes clear on a lot of them.
Some times with a real good scanner you can pick up memory codes but not always.
Best to test when light is on.
Post back code no. if yoiu can get one.

I had a similar problem on my 95 Avenger. I would alway turn the car off to go into the dealer and the code would clear, turns out it was the ABS sensor in the hub itself. Just my :2cents:

Hi,
I had a problem vith the ABS light being on and I did not get any code out of it when I had it scanned at a shop. But I found out that the front right wheel speed sensor was broken an changed it. But the light was still on.
So I went to another shop and they could read 3 error codes (all refering to the sensor I had changed). The mechanic at the shop said that had to be cleared (with a scantool) to make the light go off and the ABS to work again, just changing the sensor didn't do it.
My first mec did not have the right scantool to read the ABS of a Blazer, apparently it only worked with S10-pickups witch doesnt have the same system (??) (it is what the second mec said).
When my problems started the ABS light went on and off randomly till it one day didn't go off again... maybe codes clear itself if the error disapear in a short time, but as I drove with it for over 6 month the computer thought it needed a scantool... ;-)
Dont know if this is any help for you...

I had a problem with my ABS light staying on. It was a bad ground. It is located under the air filter box.
