alright so here's the deal.
i was screwing around today on the highway on my way to work.... up around oh... 100-115 the whole time (Messing with another guy in another car) ... so traffic got congested and i slowed way down... then i had an opening... so i hit 3rd gear and ran it out for all it was worth... 80-85ish... and i was just gettin ready to bang 4th and keep going... and my radar detector goes apeshit... and i saw why... sheriff coming the other way. and i realized it... didn't slam on the brakes, but threw it in 5th and coasted to 60 and set the cruise... i managed to get all the way into town, and like 30 seconds from work and i see cherries n berries behind me weaving through traffic... 5 mins after he passed me. fuck ... i thought ... i'm screwed. sure enough he pulled me over....
officer : "sir how fast do you think you were going ?"
me: " i dont know, i was at the top of third, maybe... 80-85"
officer : "really?, son i had you at 101mph...!"
me: "no freakin way.... i wasn't doing anywhere near 100..."
officer " well you were, license and proof of insurance please..."
so i provided the requested documents and he retired to his car for 5 mins... came back with a ticket... for 101 in a 65... no adverse conditions... blah blah... DOUBLE BOND?!?! it was a $170 dollar ticket to start with, its now $340 !!!! and i have to appear in court since it was my 2nd ticket... last one was in sept. in a diff. car for 68 in a 55 with no speedo... lol
so what the fuck do i do ? i was speeding. clearly. but 101 ? no way... nowhere even close to when he saw me.... i took my ticket and went to work.
so, i work like 50-70 hours 7 days a week, and court date is next friday... but i can't call off work, not even to go to court! ... i know i can reschedule it... but damn it... i know i won't loose my license eiether way, but what am i suppose to do ? $340 for a ticket !?!?! when i know i wasn't speeding THAT much.... i guess i'm lucky he didn't call it drag racing, which would have been an automatic 6mo. suspension....
look guys... i don't have a leg to stand on... my insurance is expired ( yeah i know... i'm waiting for the attacks from ya'll)
cop bought my "valid" insurance card and marked as such on my ticket... but if i dispute this in court they'll want proof from the insurance company.
i'm soo screwed and confused... any help guys ?

you're pretty much screwed.
1. the judges usually believe a police officer before a civilian
2. radar is considered his PROOF beyond a reasonable doubt, just hope he's a no-show and you can plea down

tickets blow. my first time ever being pulled over i was safely doing 72 in the 55 with not another car around for at least a half mile. cop instantly writes me a $181 ticket. thankfully i had friends who paid the ticket for me since i was broke and unemployed (i was 16) i paid them back and all but i think he was just trying to teach me a lesson. which is what i suspect this cop is trying to do to you. you should've told him to go fuck himself and tossed the ticket back at him. in all seriousness tho, anyway you can just go to court and quietly pay it since you have that whole deal with no insurance? yes it sucks but like you said, you were speeding, and it was a little more than like 5 over.

yeah... but i wasn't doing anywhere near 100 when he picked me up... if you read what i said in my first post, i said i had slowed down because traffic was congested, and he nailed me when i got on it to get around traffic. i'm probably wrong, but i think it was an incorrect radar reading. more than likely i'll pay the ticket... can't afford otherwise.

He said it for me. If i was in your shoes i would be glad i got it for 101 and not 115. Im pretty sure im MN if your going 30+ over they can impound your car on the spot. Not sure if thats the case in your state but if it is your STILL lucky. You got a break because he didnt catch you at 115 and your still looking for ways out. You already got off lucky, just pay the damn thing and be done with it.

lol, wow what a stupid statement. When i was younger (im 20 right now) I was never harassed by police unless i was doing something wrong/stupid. Some kids just feel sorry for themselves because of their mistakes.

Yea. Speeding tickets suck. The last time I got pulled over i was clocked in doing 67 in a 55. I was up in northern Wisconsin, It was opening weekend for deer hunting, this was the first time driving to my uncles cabin, and my dad gives me these what i thought were simple directions. I ended up 64 miles east of where I had to be. So I got on a road that took me directly to the town. So im going down this road and there was harldy no one on it. So I was going down a hill and I let my foot off the gas so it would coast and when I get to the bottom of the hill i would put my foot back on the gas so I would maintain 55-60 MPH speed. I get to the bottom of the hill and here comes a cop from the other way. I didnt think much of it til I looked at my HUD and i was going 67. So I got pinched. $160 dollar ticket. Written warning for having too dark of tint (20%) and not having a front license plate.
To top this all off. I just got canned from my job the same day and my car started to misfire because I got my car stuck at my uncles cabin cause my front tires were bald and there was a lot of snow and I kept spinning out. So i drove about an hour and a half south while the car randomly misfire.
It wasnt my day.

i don't think they've got me targeted, but when you have a red car, with a loud ass intake, and loud exhaust, and a somewhat heavy foot its like "ooh follow this car... he might fuck up" ... gotta meet traffic ticket quota today... its like a have a giant fucking beacon flashing over my car saying "come get me"... doesn't matter how i drive or what i'm doing.

It's true that once the local cops get to know you and your car they will keep an eye on you. I found this out first hand when I was a kid. After getting written up for "illegal start of a motor vehicle" (smoking the tires!) in one instant, and open alcohol in another, I was being stopped for any little thing. Tail light out, stopped. Loud exhaust, stopped. Front bumper height, stopped. Hell, once they stopped me early in the morning because "we know where you live and noticed that you didn't go straight home"!
The only thing you can do now is be a goody two shoes until they forget about your reputation. Getting a different car or taking the cab will help too!

As far as the "Reckless Operation", you revved. If it's not against the law, and the cop didn't see your wheels spin, you should get out of it. You missed a shift, whatever. This is a BS ticket and you know it. But having the speeding ticket on your record goes against you.
You have to think about it from the cop's point of view (no I'm not a cop). They see a sporty/fast/loud/tuned/whatever car, and 80% of the speeders and a lot of the accidents they handle involve that type of car; regardless of whether or not it's BS for the cops to watch cars with loud exhaust, stickers, or lowered, they DO watch and you have to acknowledge that they are doing so. To do anything else would be pure stupidity. So be aware of your vehicle and try driving precisely.
Now the speeding ticket. Your own story said that you got to top of 3rd and considered slamming 4th. Maybe you DID slam it for a bit, ever think of that? At 85+ mph things happen pretty quick and it would only take a couple of seconds.
Go to court, appeal the ticket, say you were only doing 80-85. Work a plea bargain out with the prosecutor beforehand, to plead guilty for 80. It usually works. Sign up for a defensive driving course BEFORE your court date, and make sure to tell the judge about it.
Then man up and pay the fine.

Exactly. Learn how to drive and you'll stop getting in trouble with the law. I've been driving for over 5 years and only had 1 ticket, how many tickets have you gotten over this what.. 2-3 days?

Its true, cops do alot of profiling. Young driver, car that looks modded or fast, yup they are going to watch. They run the plate, don't need a reason to here, see your record, watch even closer. Try this: SLOW DOWN. It does work, drive like a sane person, not some hotheaded kid, next time you get pulled over treat the cop with the utmost respect. If they start to see you respecting them instead of trashing them they will eventually return the favor. I got stopped rolling down a hill near a school, cop pulled me over, checked me out gave me a warning. 45 in a 30 school zone, no tickets for 18 years, he cut me a break. You bet your ass I'm careful going down that hill and driving in that town.

How about drive NORMALLY. My friend has a camed LS1 that it is straight up race car loud. He took it to the gas station up the block to be put on a scanner(he has SES light on, it's mis fire on all cylinders and MAF) and he has no plates on it and its not insured(off the road for the winter). A cop saw him and did nothing. If he was driving like a moron, he would have been in as much trouble as an ass raped monkey.
