Good to car in NETURAL while braking

I drive AT Saturn SL2 02 and someone told me that it's good to put the car in netural while braking. Is this good or bad move to stop the car occasionally?

Not only is it bad, but in many states it is illegal.

If you belive that, next time you gotta get around another car, throw it in "P" for passing gear....

Why is it bad? People keep saying that it's bad but it would be really helpful if someone can tell me why it's bad. Thank you

The transmission operates on hydraulic pressure. The hydraulic pressure rises with RPM. If you put it in neutral you are operating the tranny at 65 mph with only enough pressure to support standing still.

yeah only do that when youre on ice and you start sliding, it helps you stop better

it's actually better to leave the car in drive when stopping on ice, then you get some engine braking, you could even downshift it, putting it in neutral will just mean your brakes have to do more of the stopping and are more likely to lock up.
