Hmmmmm, is there any thing not allowing the lever all the way down? I had something in mine so that the light was on but the ebrake wasnt near enough to be engaged. Maybe a f-ed up sensor?

there is nothing in the way. I was thinking that it may be a sensor. where would that sensor be? is the sensor expensive?

Mine does the same thing, but it only stays on half the time. On the bottom of the e-brake lever there is a metal tab that pushes against a switch when you put the e brake down to make the light go off. I guess the switch just sticks sometimes. Should work fine if you replace the switch, I would have done it along time ago in mine but I'm too lazy.

I took the center console apart, and there was nothing in the way of the brake lever and the sensor was plugged in, everything was in good shape. So I disconnected the battery and re connected the battery it worked fine. The light goes on when the lever is up and turns off when the lever is down. thanks for all your help
