i'd like to keep it under $1k. it doesn't need to be exessively loud either, just louder than stock

While people are giving their opinion I wanted to know what everyone thought of the setup I'm going to buy. I'm going to save up and buy a little at a time but will eventually get it all. I have a 92 4 door cherokee. I'm going to be getting a higher output alt., 2 Optima red top deep cycle batteries 1 to replace the car battery and the second in the back by the amp for additional power, Kicker Solo X 18 with dual 1 Ohm voice coils(5000w rms 10000w peak), 2 Hifonics BFi 2006D(2000w rms @ 1ohm 4000w peak) 1 for each voice coil, 0 gauge wire running throughout everything even the big 3 and connecting the car battery to the second battery in the back, custom designed and built 1 1/2" mdf box (double 3/4" layers) tuned to about 30Hz with slot port 10 cu.ft. net with internal bracing and L brackets for stability, already have the HU and replacement speakers. I want something that will put to shame all the trunk vibrators around and give me something to enter local comp's when they come around.

Hey Paul have you heard anything about the website woofersetc? That's one of the few sites I've been able to find that sell the 18" solo x.

so does anyone know of a good site where i can get everything instead of ordering seperately from different sites?

woofersetc does sell hard to find stuff like audiocontrol, arcaudio, zapco, etc ... but they are NOT authorized dealers either - so as far as warranty stuff, they offer their own like 90 day warranty. So you need to intall it fairly quickly to make sure it works. The maunfacturers will will not honor warranty returns from you if you but unauthorized.

to dave, the box you mentioned seems a little excessive.. not sure if doubling up on all panels is necessary for a DD box.. just have good bracing and the 3/4 will be just fine. you can double baffle the woofer side if anything.. and also, 30hz tuning will be sweet for daily, your lows will be unstopable BUT, i sugggest having that box, and then build a box with a much higher tuning for your SPL comps.. your score will increase dramatically.. fine the resonant freq. of your car, work from that, etc. also youll be in a pretty high class, at least street c depending on the box you use. (if its db drag) and if competition is tough around your town, you might have some work cut out for ya. but comps are fun so just know what your goals are and go for it man

to the orig. poster... 96 explorers FoR TeH WiinnnN!!111!!one. are you looking for a ton of bass right now or just an overall upgrade? where should we focus most attention to? speakers? subs?

Onlinecarstereo.com > Ikesound.com

Never had any problem at all with them. Freidndly staff, quick service, good product, and they honor their 1yr warranty.

im looking to mostly do an overall upgrade, probably more focus on speakers than subs

Yah at first I plan on having the 1 box tuned to about 30-35hz and then build a second box the same size and tune it to 56hz that kicker recommends in the manual for spl comp. which will allow it to hold the full 10k watts.

personally, i wouldnt go with that clarion unit, i work for a mobile audio store, and we get alot of clarions back with problems, kenwood decks have lots of customization options and are reasonably priced
