93 Clio 1.4 bonet/hood problem.

I recently purcahsed this car and can't seem to open the hood, I followed the user manual that came with the car, but it's only in french and I don't fully understand.

I was hoping someone would be able to either tell me how to do it or let me know where I could get an english copy of the user manual online.

Right now I am pulling the lever under the steering wheel, I have tried it while doing multiple other things but none seem to help. The car has a dead battery, I was wondering if this could be causing the problem.

Hi, Where the lever is underneath the steering wheel, it is attached to a cable and it pulls the latch on the bonnet, you should then be able to lift the bonnet up... If this doesnt work, i am afriad to say that the cable may of snapped... A dead battery should not be the cause of this, probly jst a broken cable...
