Non Stop Beeping on 88 LE

I'm getting a non-stop beeping coming from somewhere around my glovebox. It even happens without the key being in. It beeps at three different frequencies that I've found:
When car is running about 2 beeps per sec.
When car is turned off about 4 beeps per sec.
When car is off and lights are on about 8 beeps per second.
The pitch of the beep appears to stay the same for all three.
I read around the threads a bit and this is what was suggested:
faulty master cylinder - I've been having some problems, but the fluid level is above where it's been in the past with no beeping.
problem w/ emergency brake - I set and released the brake and shook the pedal a bit w/ no change. This too has been a problem w/ the emergency brake light staying on after the pedal was released and then the light will go off (or on) at strange times. I havn't noticed this problem in awhile though.
problem w/ door closer plungers - I rattled the driver side on around w/ no changes.
I've also disconnected and then reconnected the battery w/ two different results. One the beeping starts immediately and two the beeping starts again after the key is put in the ignition.
I tried to code the car, but couldn't get the coder to register correctly.
I first noticed the problem after opening the door the other day. Any ideas? Can whatever's beeping be disconnected safely? Needless to say, but this is driving me nuts.
Thanks for your help. -Andy.

Well I got the beeping to stop by removing a little gray box from my car. It was located directly above where the glove box liner fits in. Would anyone know where to get a new one? The box says Rittenhouse Div. Emerson Electric Co. 22533568 on it, but I wasn't able to find anything off the net. The box has a speaker in it as well as a circuit board with about 100 resistors on it. Is it time to hit the salvage yard?
Another wierd thing is that when I was taking apart part of my dash (before removing the box), the beeping went away for a little while, but returned again later.

Hey I had same problem.Mine is a 89 SSE don't know if their the same. My Information center hasn't worked since I got the car that basically tells you why the car is beeping.Things like time to change oil ,bulb out things like that. Well the beeping wouldn't stop so I removed the little speaker that does the beeping on mine it was behind the instrument panel in a little computer board toward the glove box. I had to remove top dash pad few screws here and there and it pops right off ( some are under front cover that surrounds everything on dash it just clips in and some are up where speakers are ) Pretty simple . Then just remember to do your maintenance. You might want to check all bulbs first !!! But no more driving me nuts beeping how sweet it is !!

That part is referred to as a chime module, and is part of the theft deterrent, as well as beeping when the headlights are left on, the key is in the ignition, the door is ajar, etc... Since all of these are acting up at the same time, it's either a door pin switch or the module itself is bad.
