I have a 4.3L 1994 sonoma. The time has come to change my muffler, and I am thinking of possibly going with something other than stock to get a better sound and performance. Any suggestions? Should I also think about changing my cat while I'm at it?

Do u want to go with mufflers or are u willing to do straight pipes. I had an 94 s10 w/ 4.3 with straight pipes and high flow cats and it sounded good, but really loud and could get tiring after awhile, but 2 things that would sound good is either glasspacks my firiend has on his sonoma, or go with 40 seires flowmaster, that will probably give you a deep tone and not to loud but gives u that deep powerful sound.

Thanks for the reply-
It sounds like the flowmaster would be good, I want a better sound but not too loud. Would you recommend changing the cat when I do the muffler?

Update.....I finally got my new muffler. I ended up going with a 50 series flowmaster dynaflow muffler and I stuck with my stock cat. I am very happy with it so far. It has a nice deep tone, but is not too loud inside the cab. If I open the window though I can hear it better and this things rips. The truck sounds awesome when I accelerate and hit high RPMS and it seems to have better power on the top end as well. I paid $220 parts and labor at a local shop. I would reccomend this muffler to anyone who wants a nice deep tone but not an overpowering sound inside the cab while driving.

My wife has a '02 S10 4door 4X4 4.3L and I put a magna flow cat back kit on it and it sounds really good for a V6.
