Interior rattling - passenger side pillar

A couple of weeks ago my '00 LSV8 started ratting when I go over bumps. I also notice the sound when I take off and stop sometimes. It sounds like something is loose near/under the passenger side pillar where the seat belt tensioner is, but I can't figure out what it is. The molding that holds that part on does feel loose, but I push it back tight to no avail. :banghead: still rattles!!!

HELP!!!

Be sure it's not the seat or headrest. My passenger headrest will rattle once in a while if it's all the way up. It took me forever to find that one.

Thanks a lot, man. I'll take a look at that this weekend.

If it the noise bothers you that much I would take it to the dealer and have them check it out.. Even though they might me a little expensive, dont take it to just any mechanic/bodyshop. The dealer will tighten everyhting up. I had an 02 LS and after the first 30,000 miles things started to rattle, like the centel consol and dashboard etc. but I live in New York (pot hole capital of the world). Its really just ware and tare. Not much to worry about.

I have a similar problem on my driver side. I looked everywhere and tried taping and sticking cardboard in everything in the pillar post. It did not correct the problem. After that, I felt that it was not the source of the problem. The real source is the weather stripping around the doors. It drys out and since the doors move a bit when you drive, it creates a mechanical type sound. I verified this by putting a silicon lube around the mating surfaces of the front and rear weatherstrips. The rattle disappeared and was replaced by a slight squeaking sound (rubber on rubber) that appeared in all the driven locations that the rattle did. The problem is worse when the vehicle is first driven especially in the cool of morning. I live in the desert and with the high temperatures, rubber will dry out and crack sooner. Hope this helps.
