ac problem

when i have my ac on and i try to take off from a stop my car hesitates really badly and it even stalled the other day. once it gets goin its ok but from the start its hella sluggish. anyone else have this problem and is it normal? thx

I've never had that problem before, but that's b/c oh yea, I don't have an AC. I dont' know what could be causing that problem, but I DO know that having your AC on deplinshes your hp.

try adjusting ur idelling speed.

If your car idles fine with the A/C off then it's not your idle speed although adjusting it would fix the problem but then your car would idle too high with the A/C off. There is an air conditioning signal wire that runs from your A/C to the ECM this tells the computer when the A/C is one so it can feed more air and fuel to the engine to keep the correct idle speed. I would check this signal to make sure it is still working. Also if your car is stalling that probably means your car is in need of a tune up (air filter, distributor cap & rotor, spark plugs & wires) That also could cause this problem. Note a normal idle speed for a civic is about 700 rpms.

According to my Helm's manual the normal idle for a 96-2000 Civic is 670 +/- 50. Therfore anything from 620-720 is an acceptable idle.

Did you check the ac signal wire?

no, ive no clue what that is. i figured out that if i ease on the gas really slow it doesnt studder but if i give it alot of gas it seems to choke or something...i dunno what could cause that.

Check your fuel injection system... sounds like it could be the cause. Also check your intake, see if its clogged or dirty.

I'd say luti is right if you're only having a problem when you give it a lot of gas. Check to make sure you're getting enough air and fuel.
