Valve adjustment

One more question. If I install aftermarket cams what all must I do? I'm assuming I'll first have to get them resurfaced or pollished right? And then once I do install them I'm sure I'll have to adjust my valve's. Can anybody tell me if this is all correct? I'm just figuring all this on what I know. Also if I do have to adjust my valve's I was wondering if anybody here know's how to do it themselves and is it fairly easy? Thanks.

One you put in new cams, adjust the valves first without starting the car. See the following thread.

Of course set the clearance based on the manufacturer's recommended spec. Also don't forget to lube the lobes before putting in the new cams.

Then you should break in your cam. Start the car and immediately bring it up to 3000 rpm. Run it for 15 minutes at 3000 rpm. Be sure to keep an eye on the oil pressure and have someone standing by the engine to look for any signs of failure, such as any unusual knocking noise... That should do the trick.

You should recheck the valve clearances once more once the break-in is done.

if they are new and not damaged, they do not need to be resurfaced and polished.
