Why does nobody like flowmaster??

I was planning on putting flowmasters on my car after hearing a guys v6 camaro, and when I started telling people, they were all ragging about how much flowmaster sucks. They say it may sound better but it's just like putting a body kit and wing on a stock civic, it doesn't make it any more powerful.

What do you guys think???

BTW, what size exhaust piping does a stock 1995 camaro 3.4l v6 have??

Thanks

Just my personal opinion-- I have a crossflow flowmaster on my Camaro "V8" which is actually single exhaust inlet with dual outlets, and I think it sounds nice- it has a nice smooth throb.
I have heard Chevy V8's with true duals with dual chamber flowmasters and they sound great. These are V8's.
But you have a 6.
But to tell you the truth, I have never heard a 4 or a 6 (in any brand) that sounded good to me with a set of pipes unless they were TUNED .
You have a better chance of getting decent sound with a 6 if you have real tuned headers and true duals. Rather pricey..And you still got the converters to think about. Most I've heard with just the mufflers changed have that same blat sound that you hear from those "coffee cans".
ANYONE who thinks those sound good, is dreaming. They just make NOISE! So thats why people are responding to you the way they do.
For example---
My daughter bought a neat looking Chrysler Sebring Convertible 6 cylinder and her first words were , " Daddy, how can I get it to sound like your vehicles? (4 Chevy v8's) You can't- I told her, leave it stock.

flowmasters flow well and sound damn good. They have an agressive loud tone at all rpm.
Cons- Everyone has them, its 40 more for the name, loud nomater what = cops dont like you, the rough noise isnt for everyone.

Dynomax Turbo flows actually flow somewhat better, and sound much smother, they run 40 each, but they are not as loud.

Borla, bitchen sound, awesome flow, overall best, but about 150+ a muffler.

For your 6 a flowmaster would be good, would mimic a 350, eventhough you have a 3.8 I heard flowbies on a 3.8 Firebird, sounded really nice.

Flowmasters are fine, the sound is great and it's not like it completely sucks at performance. I have one on the X and its a V6, it sounds beautiful. If you like Flowmasters then go ahead and do it. I really doubt it will disappoint you.

Sorry guys, I have to disagree with the "No performance upgrades with the Flowmaster," that Picachoo hurd. In 1999, Sport Compact car did an exhaust kit comparison, and Flowmaster came out number 1 over all of the name brand exhaust that were tested. Borla, Dynomax, etc. This for 4 Cyl. and 6 Cyl. Applications. I have been involved in the Import tuner scene for some time, and recently have decided to advance to the bigger catagory of eginess such as the V-6 camaro, Yah..Yah.. I know, nothin like the V-8's, but its an improvement. Any way, Ive run Flowmaster on all sorts of cars, and seen 15% improvements with the rest of the system being stock.
Just my 2 cents.

I recently swapped mufflers on my 02 SS with the Flowmaster 80 Series, I'm extremely happy with the results. Great deep growl.. but still quiet. This turned out to be the best bet for my money :) As for Borlas, I thought I would like them, but the last time I heard them they just sound raspy.. ick!;)

I was down at the exhaust shop friday after work, and was asking about the Flowmaster 80 series, and the guy I was talking to has been a flowmaster dealer for 15 years, he stated that there wasn't an 80 series out. So please tell me or give me some specs on your 80 series flowmaster?

Checked it out, seems like it's a 50 series with a different interior. Thanx for the heads up.

I think the reason people rip on flowmaster is simply because everyone has them. but everyone has them for a reason.... they're good mufflers, and fairly cheap for the improved sound and power. mine was only 150 installed. I'm actually thinking of switching to a "Loudmouth" system though. I've heard a few, and they sound amazing. never heard it on a V6 though

Damn that 80 series sounds pretty wicked on all those cars. Corvette is like a monster jesus.

What would be better, using a glasspack muffler or a Flowmaster?

i have a 69 camaro with a 454 big block and a 8-71 weiand blower on it. i have dual exhaust with dual series 40 delta force 2 chamber 3 inch flowmasters i get better air flow with a flowmaster than with the other exhaust mufflers i used like hooker, flow teck, and edelbrock.

How do you know though have you tried all those brands and taken notes at the track? Just wondering.

i have dragged my car with the different mufflers. flowmaster has cut my times down by about 1/2 a second to 3/4 of a second off my times.

hey everyone,

Flows rock im running the 80 series on my v-6 camaro at the moment. The 80 series flat out rocks... if you dont have the money to convert to a dual exhaust you can always go with a single in dual out for the looks. The 80 series is definately the best one to buy for performance, but the 40 series is the noise maker ~ tuning the headers does help alot but I suggest you drop a drop a supercharger in it first. That is, if you want some reaaally bad ass sound... not to mention a fucking fast v6

Seriously though if you could convert to a true dual exhaust using the 80 series you would get the best performance/sound all around... it will cost you alot more but its definately worth it.. IMO

2001 camaro - v6 super charged 345+ hp (don't hate on the v6 owners... some of us cant pay the insurrance/gas on a v8 !)
