97 expy eb gear selector problem

my gear selector on my 97 its kind of weird when i put it in drive my lever says n and when i go reverse i have to put it on p
what gives?
any of you guys have the same problem and how do you fix it

I just got a 98 and it did the same thing - easy fix. Look up under dash near top of brake pedal and you'll see a small black cable that goes from gear shift to selector - there is a small adjustment nut that will fix it -

Mine did same thing, but could not adjust it enough witht he wheel. needed aplstic cable tie to take up allof the slack in the cable!

My Gear Selector Cable Broke and I need to know where I can find another cheaper than going to the ford dealership???any suggestions?:screwy:

I had one break, fortunately under warranty. It's pretty bad for something like that to break. I think the whole gear selector design is cheap anyway, and it feels cheap.
