I was looking at a 2005 silverado and noticed that the bed /tailgate is exactly the same as my 2000. I was wondering if I could put the taillights from the '05 into my 2000?? I think the newer ones look better without the orange turn lens. Anybody know if this will work?

i had to file a little part of one of the clips ( on the light socket) so it would fit in the new taillight

They will fit. You have to do some minor mods, and you can use the the factory '00 harnesses.
if you want more details, i can post tomrrow.

The lights will bolt up with no problem. The only 2 setbacks you will have is a few the sockets onthe '00 harnesses will not fit. You will have to trim the inside of the light to get the bulb to fit. Minor work, very easy.
There is also an extra light on the 03 and up lights that you'll have to add to the '00 harnesses. There is a good write up on this, and this is actually the instructions I followed when I did this modification. It takes about 15 minutes and maybe $10 at most.
