I think it would be a waste of money to have someone do it for you. Its very easy to do, if you prep it right and have any experience with spray paint whatsoever.

If i can do it then anyone can lol just dpends on how much effort you want to put in it

painting is not hard at all,, and honestly, if u take your time and put some effort into it, it should look good. As for the seats, i havent decided if i should attempt to reupholster them myself, or get them done... plus theres alot more pride that goes with your car when you can say that you did it urself

ok man think u are making a big mistake...i was just like u when i did the interior of my friends car, but i would have to say that the hardest part of painting ur interior is taking the shit out...once u get that done all u have to do is lightly sand it prime it and spray balm it, ud be suprised how good u can make it look urself...and if u ask me ud be more pleased and satisfied if u do it ur self.

Cavalier2000
03-20-2006, 04:43 PM
Taking it out is not the hardest part. It's putting it back in without messing it up. I did my wife's entire interior and got a sweaty hand and slipped and put a 12 inch long scratch in the paint. Then it's back to the basement

03-21-2006, 12:52 AM
lol. but yea, i second the motion about doin it urself... much more satisfaction if u know u did a good job urself..

but if u dont feel comfortable doin it urself, then by all means

CavLCD128
03-21-2006, 01:28 AM
dont get my wrong...i would love to do it...but i dont no the things i need....and like the guy said i dont wanna be putting it back in a mess it up...or it not fit right
i spray painted my 2 little vents and they look like total shit....givin the fact that i didnt use primer or whatever else i needed....give me a list of the things i need to spraypain plastic interior and i might try and tackle the job...

1stcavyz24
03-21-2006, 12:11 PM
For the plastic pieces you need to primer because it doesnt stick that well and you'll most likely end up with spots. The rest not so much. Make sure you do acouple test runs before you start, clean, then you want to make sure your can (5oz dupli-color from canadian tire/homedepot or wherever you buy it from) is far enough back, if its to close the paint will be to thick and drip and its a big pain. (If the pieces are not clean you'll end up with spots aswell, and will look like cr@p) Once i figure out why my camera wont upload pics to my computer i'll show u what i did. Putting it back together is not difficult you just need patience and dont get sweaty hands, lol-cavalier2000. If u need help pm me and i'll be glad to lend a hand

03-22-2006, 10:20 AM
lol pics would b great...lol i should take a pic of the 2 little vents i did and let u guys laugh at me for the next....3 years lol thanx for the list of shit
when it gets hot out im gonna attempt it...and if all else fails...il mail the pieces 2 kustmAce and he will do them for 50 bucks...

03-22-2006, 08:08 PM
yea i just found out i have to send my camera to sony to get it fixed,, or buy a 30$ card reader from best buy/futureshop then i'll upload the ones on the camera,, as for the ones i already have i'll send em via email.

Krylon fusion. No primer needed unless you are using light colors. Clean with straight amonia and let dry, then go back and clean with good water but don't leave water spots. let dry then apply THIN EVEN COATS and let time to dry between each coat. I usually put around 12 coats and it takes all day. Let dry over night then put coats of clear coat on them. Again how much clear coat it up to you. I put around 6-10 coats though.

here is some really old pics but they will show how mines looked at htis point.

this stuff works really good till one hot summer day when you leave your windows up and the glue melts all over your dash

CavLCD128
03-27-2006, 12:33 PM
nah if u read it...it says the max temps both ways is -5 degrees and 195 degrees F so it should be safe
however if it does melt they would defintally be buying me a new dash lol

i painted the interior myself w/ the same (fabric & vinyl) paint. notice that i did the vents, shifter knob, center around (aftermarket) radio, the inner pieces where the side mirrors are, and the floor mats. I am still planning on painting the door panels also. the exterior of my car is black. :grinyes:

my99cavy

doesnt look to bad to start out with. not too big of a fan with the painted floor mats. i would have just bought some blue ones, but thats just me. check out my interior i just did not too long ago and tell me what you think.

its pretty kool. i like it.

i wanted to buy blue floor mats but i couldnt find ne for a good price and if i did find some for a good price, they werent the right color.

so...would u suggust nething else i should do w/ my interior?

my99cavy
07-13-2006, 02:47 PM
you could paint every vinyl piece in the car if you wanted. all depends on how much you want to do. glove box, armrest, the whole dash, airbag cover, door panels A-pillars etc etc. also you might want to think about doing a 2 tone on the interior. instead of everything blue. like on mine im going to paint the rest of the dash that isnt blue like a gloss black.

my99cavy
07-13-2006, 02:58 PM
what about these floor mats....

or even some diamond plate mats would look nice.

true, to each their own. My bad... I have yet to meet 1 person who a few months down the road regrets buying the first set of wheels they did... so maybe he'll do the same.

I've been there done that. Honestly I am kicking myself again already... I wish i would have went 19"s instead of the 18"s i have. I love the style but i think 1 more inch would be the sexor and i could have gotten them in GM at the time. Oh well, the car is going to be more for show than go anyway and these are 25lbs/wheel and those would have been 28lbs/wheel. I'm saving a little get up and go. Also he'll have more ride comfort too... I feel everything on the road now and i'm loving it! :grinyes:

wow...i cant believe u guys hate those that much. i think they look pretty good.

ok, look at this. maybe this will change ur mind and maybe not.

those rims, BRAND NEW, are almost $200 PER RIM!

thats almost $800 in rims!

then another $400 or so for tires.

thats $1200!!!

i got all 4 rims, the nuts, 4 lock nuts, and the tires for under $200.

im sry, i COULD NOT pass up on a deal like that. it was just too good.

i was personally looking at black ACR rims that were $430, but then i found these and im saving over $250 this way just on the rims alone.

if u count tires, im saving closer between $400 and $500!

thats between $250 and $500 more into a body kit or performance upgrades.

idk about u but thats sound GOOD to me! :grinyes:

Well now you can say you have, I've had my first set of rims for a year or more and I still love them and wouldn't trade them for alot of the rims out there. I saw these rims when I didn't even have a car yet and I wanted them so bad, they were my top favorite. Then I get a call one day from my buddy who tells me this kid we know with an Eclipse is selling his rims, needless to say, the ones I now own. 17" Konig Blatants in the Opal color, it's like a dark silver for $500, with Toyo Proxies tires and at the time only one rim had a minor scrape.
