just wondering if you thought that this would be a good deal, it has 7k on the 97 lt1 tht he put into it, and 126k on the body, I talked hom down to $4000

Sounds like an awesome deal to me. I would suggest finding out why he had replaced the engine to begin with (ex: did he drive it hard?) and take it out for a test drive to see how she shifts. If the tranny isn't all that great, as in it shifts hard or the clutch is slipping, then you could probably talk him down even more.
